Roses in June

Good morning.   This picture of the busy cat reminds me of all the news we listen to on a daily basis, or maybe it reminds me of the ads that spew over the television, the radio and our computer screens.  A lost cause until you throw the cat out the door and let it find its amusement somewhere else.    But our 'toys' are important to us and we can't just throw them out the door with the cat . . . so every four minutes get up out of your chair and exercise.

Sunshine this morning and it is the middle of our week.    Pat is coming along slowly  and enjoying the flowers and cards.   Family and friends can usually bring up the morale a notch or two when the recuperation time seems to take forever.   We are both enjoying having Christine here for awhile.  It has been a long time between visits and we are happy she can spend a couple of weeks with us.   We had lunch at the Sweet Pea Tea Room yesterday where they served a wonderful chicken curry sandwich with cranberry and apple in it.    The antiques were fun to look at and they have opened another room where they have 'yard sale' items.   I laughed when the proprietor told me this as several of the 'antiques' on the shelves came from daughter Pat's yard sales.   There are several pieces, on the main shelves, that were very familiar and priced a lot more than the 'yard sale' price.
Roses in June.

La Verne grows beautiful roses and brought these over for me to enjoy.   They smell heavenly and are unusual in color.    From a distance, as I look at them over the backyard fence, they look more orange, similar to the Fiesta rose like the color in the skirt of a Spanish dancer.   When she brought them in I was amazed to see that they were more pink.   They stayed 'whole' for several days but right now they are in a lovely glass dish of apple green and the petals are heaped up and the inner pods are still there.    I hate to throw them out as they still have a wonderful smell.   If I knew how I could press them but that sounds like work and I am avoiding that these days.

So today, your special middle of the week day, think vacation time and where you want to go this year.  One friend wrote that he got close to Brookings but the rains kept him away and he headed back to his home in the mountains of Nevada where the snow was  still falling on the valley floor.    Yes, they were still having snow  and that meant it is still cold.    He should have kept coming this way as we finally got some sunshine between the rain clouds and it actually warmed a little.  I am sorry he couldn't make it all the way as it would have been good to see him again.   So, if you are traveling try and stop and visit a friend or two along the way.    Renewing friendships, exchanging hugs . . . aah . . . what a way to go.   Make your seconds count today, smile and enjoy each one.   Hugs to all.
