We all know MacDonald's is about to enter a new phase . . . they are going to 'thin' America, good timing, now if our politicians take heed they can 'lighten the load'. MacDonald's plans are already underway; our politicians are still thinking about a ten year plan once they make up their minds. What is that old rhyme, "See Saw, Marjorie Daw, Jenny shall have a new master." . . . and it goes on but I can't remember all the words. So here's to a 'thin' future. I"d toast with a cup of coffee but who can afford it with Yuban selling at $12.95 a can and they are coming up with some new and different brands of 'select' coffee beans, from where? The dregs of whatever works, I guess. Speaking of coffee, my Sullivan cousins have arrived and they brought me a great big can of coffee from Costco so I am all set for awhile.
As Will Rogers said, "We could certainly slow the aging process down if it had to work its way through Congress." We have been entertained royally for months, a never ending battle that will continue as the fight goes on to lessen the load of debt. Wonder what is in the fine print of the new 'bill'.
Now for a cute story and one we have all participated in at one time or another. My friend Barbara sent me an e-mail telling the tale of what her cat brought in. She and her husband, Dick, had some excitement when Heba, their cat, came into the house with his trophy and all Barbara could see was some hairy legs and let out a screech for Dick to catch the cat heading for the bedroom with is prize. Needless to say there was some scurrying done but not fast enough for them to catch the fallen victim . . . not fallen enough not to run and hide. Now the twosome have flashlights, brooms, vacuum cleaner, soft voices and sweet words hoping to retrieve this beast who could bite them or take up residence and become the border they never planned on. Nothing worked so they got a trap, drove to the store and stocked up on goodies that little rabbits love. It took a week of watching the goodies disappear to a silent and hidden visitor. Barbara said,"The local pigmy rabbit, cute as a bug, smaller than a Guinea Pig. I am so relieved at not sharing quarters with him. He can mow through greens like a cow." So, as she said, "The moral of the story is to watch what the cat brings in, but then she has a friend who left her door open and in came thirteen quail, who live in her Fichus tree, came in for a visit and some were lost crashing into the windows to get free. Reminds me of the story I wrote up about the dog who got in to a neighbors house and their bird was free of its cage . . . feathers all over the place, a dead bird and a chastised dog who was really not to blame.
So today, the second day of August, plan to spend your seconds out and about if you can. My company is here looking great, feeling good and ready to adventure out on the beaches. Bob is going to check on my ugly hose that gives me fits with its curling and crinkling so I have to keep going back and try to get it open so the water can flow and do its job of watering the plants and flowers. It may make a good soaker hose if we punch holes in it and I can buy a new more flexible one. They brought some pizza from an Italian restaurant that was really delicious and some Napa wine that was just right. The new carrot cake cookies were delicious, huge and calorie free . . . oh yeah . . . but one does have to be polite and leave a crumb or two. So I am going to have a fun week and of you are nearby, drop in and share some goodies with us . . .that is if we are home. I think I hear a beach walk calling. Hugs to all.
