Most of us walk along the beach looking for agates. We dismiss those little pieces of driftwood and all of the varied beach stones as beauties of nature but our minds do not see what the soul of an artist does. Thomas Sheets is going to have his work shown at a local Gallery at the Art Walk this coming week. Every second Saturday of the month there are artists ready to show the work they have been doing. Take a good look at this picture and see the detail and the mind of an artist at work.
Next time I walk out on a beach I will take a closer look as to what is lying on the beach. I have seen some beautiful and useful baskets made from the smaller driftwood pieces. I have a seaweed basket that is gorgeous hanging on my wall in the living room. Yes, "Nature is Astounding" as anyone call tell. All we have to do is go for a walk, use our eyes and think of the wonders of nature and pick and choose the little pieces of the tiny pieces of flora and fauna laying on the sand just waiting for an 'artist' to come along and make something beautiful and lasting for us to enjoy.
I am smiling as I sit here and think of going to the gallery to see this lovely piece of art, and if you are like me you want to go home and pick up a paint brush, or some other pieces, to make a beautiful creation of your very own, only to realize that you have no idea on where or how to start. It is like going into a yardage shop and thinking you need to buy some cloth and go home and make a lovely creation to wear, knowing full well you have the desire but not the talent. Our senses are such that we all have an innate desire to be creative but sad to say not the talent to go with it. It is fun to try though, and sometimes our creations are not quite as bad as we think they are. All it takes are lessons, practice, and the desire to 'work at it'.
So today when you are loafing around thinking about something to do, grab a pen or a pencil and see what you can sketch and surprise yourself.
Go for a walk on the beach, or around the block and see what appeals to your 'fancy' nature. Maybe you will remember to take your camera along and snap the surprise of the year. One never knows what 'today' will bring . . . hopefully sunshine and a few hugs. Count your blessings, smile because you can and get out there and enjoy today. Every second counts . . . so make good use of them. Hugs to all.
