If my pen-pal of sixty years had lived, I would be receiving letters and pictures of her great-grand children. She would be telling me tales and bragging about how wonderful and smart and beautiful they are and I would be enjoying every word. Suzanne, Violet's daughter, has kept in touch with me and shares her grandchildren and keeps me apprised as to how they are doing. She is enjoying every moment with them and is very proud of them. They live in upper state New York and are close to each other so are growing up knowing their cousins. A lasting family tradition that all of us wish we could have surround us as the little ones bring so much love and happiness into our world.
A tortoise that looks as old as Methuselah and probably is. Yesterday's e-mail, sent by a friend, who is wondering about health and had a few lines to add . . . a Health Message it was called. Get ready for a chuckle or two . . . 1. If walking and cycling is good for your health, the postman would be immortal . . . well those that lived back in the early days when they walked the mail from door to door. Today they ride in a little cart and stop and fill the mailboxes and ride off. It seems to me they are not coming every day as they used to, but then there are lots of changes that are not as the 'used to' be. Now take me, nah, don't go there as my 'used to' be would fill the entire blog. Let us be thankful for our age just as we are. 2. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water and is fat. 3. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives fifteen years. 4. A tortoise doesn't run, does nothing . . . yet lives for 450 years . . . and You tell Me to exercise! I'm practicing how to be a tortoise, how about you?
Last but by no means least, is the beautiful Emma who lives in Connecticut. She was with her grandmother, Katie, and they rode over to Newport, Rhode Island to visit her great-grandmother Pauline on her birthday. I would say that Emma was the life of the party as I had glowing reports on how much love and laughter she added to Pauline's special day. She is bright and smart and loving and played a new game with the oldsters and held her own. She had them laughing and enjoying the day and Pauline is ready for her return visit, as her stay was not long enough. How warm and wonderful it is to have the little ones come for a visit and give meaning to our lives. So today, Thursday already. It has been a good week and I am hearing from friends that the weather is changing slowly from three digits to two and that is a blessing all in itself. You still have time for family visits and a chance to catch up on your siblings if you are lucky enough to have some. Maybe there is a new one to love. If you are on vacation don't rush back, enjoy the days as they come and make the seconds count. If all the 'hellabellow' about stocks and bonds and lost monies and gloom and doom is beginning to get to you, know that it will pass, as most things good and bad always do, and that you will pull yourself up and get on with your life hopefully in a better political climate after you vote....pay attention to what is being said and who is saying it, so you will make a good decision when the time comes. We are in for a lot of truths, dares and lies, and we need to pay attention so we can once again be the nation we are meant to be. God bless us all. Hugs to all.
