The Eye of the Sparrow

I wonder where I heard the phrase "eye of the sparrow" when I read a sad tale about a sparrow that was hit by a car and how its mate tried so desperately to save her.    The photographer took a series of pictures showing the mate trying so desperately to save his mate as he flew to try and find food to feed her, then tried again to move her but she died and he stood screaming in sadness and sorrow.    The story went on to tell that the photographer sold the series of pictures to a newspaper and the story was printed and read by people all over the world.    The story and pictures sold out as the reporter had written that the bible says God knows where a sparrow falls, imagine how he cares for each of us.  So with all the palaver of the folks who want to do away with God, there are more who choose to have faith, hope and charity in their hearts.   They find stories and pictures and words to make us think that we should try to "live long, live generously, care deeply, give fully and speak kindly"  Not bad advice.

I find it hard to believe it is Friday already.  Where did this entire week go?   It has been a good one for me with granddaughter Erin and her friend Donaleo visiting.   They will be leaving on Sunday to get back to the city and all the big doings they have planned.     Erin made a sweet potato pie that was delicious.  I had heard about them but had never tried to make one.    A bit sweet for my taste, like pecan pie, very good but I'm an hot apple pie or mince meat pie lover although a piece of Hubbard squash pie sets well;  let's face it it all sets too well.    Donaleo is not slouch in the kitchen either and he introduced Pat to a long banana like vegetable but I cannot remember the name of it.  She said it was delicious.    It is really great to have the young ones around and bring such love and laughter into our world.    Wish I could bottle some of that energy.

So today, work hard at finishing up your projects and then take the weekend off to do your favorite things.   Don't forget to keep your eye on the sparrow which must have a lot more meaning than I know about.   Wonder what researching those words will bring up . . . we will just have to find out.  So remember the words and "live long, love generously, care deeply, give fully and speak kindly" . . . good words to live by today and everyday.   Hugs to all.
